Safer spice - food safety and market access for peppercorn

A recap of PGS training program and third PGS training for General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) staff was conducted by Grant Vinning and Suzanne Neave
The recap consists of 5 steps: discovery phase (value chain analysis), selling PGS concept, forming an intergroup, reporting and monitoring, and PGS in action. The following activity was the introduction of value chain assignment using Tara’s milk story as an example (stakeholders, information flows, key interventions to overcome challenges).

Another exercise was carried out to create CoP checklist for audits. The exercise comprises the identification of types (reputation, safety, environment and economic) and levels (high, medium and low) of risk and which parts of the CoP pose such risks to the producer, company and the environment.

The third PGS training exercise for GDA staff consist of group discussion with 3 sessions: crop calendar, SWOT analysis and risk, non-compliance.
