The project team has reviewed 47 documents relating to different aspects of peppercorn, prepared the summary of these referenced literature and categorised them into different subjects as foundation for building basic codex of code of practices (CoPs), developing a set of practical implementation guides, value chain systems, integration in international market and export peppercorn..etc.
The content of the CoPs are adjusted in accordance with specific conditions and requirements of the country partners in the project such as:
  • Site selection
  • Soil management
  • Water management
  • Integrated crop management
  • Nutrition
  • Pest and disease management
  • Harvesting and post-harvest practices
The summarised documents also contain information on pepper value chain:
  • Mapping of pepper value chain
  • Value chain actors and their roles, flow of product, information and payment linkages
  • Constraints and challenges
  • Interventions
  • Business model canvas
The references contain the necessary information to build on the Participatory Guarantee Scheme (PGS) model for pepper and develop guidelines for compliance criteria, and inspection and monitoring tools for CoP and PGS.
