Safer spice - food safety and market access for peppercorn

PGS national consultant, Ino Mayu, provided training to introduce Participatory Guarantee Scheme (PGS) to WASI staffs (Mr. Hoa, Mr. Son and Ms. Huong), Simexco company (Mr. Tuan), commune farmers' union officials (1 farmers), and farmer group (those who participated in pilot CoP, 7 farmers) in Ea Ning commune, Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province.

Contents of the training for the first day held at 24 hamlet hall, Ea Ning commune, Cu Kuin district include farmer to farmer learning, benefits and challenges of a group, SWOT analysis, case studies from Solomon Islands, benefits of the PGS approach, structure, fucntions, and principles of PGS.

During the second day, the training was held at WASI office where WASI and Simexco staffs were trained. The contents include: introduced the 6 stages for applying PGS, who must have and nice to have, purpose, key roles, and structure of inter-groups.

All farmers attending this training were members of Farmers’ Union. The farmers and commune authority members understood the benefits of being a group and they were interested in PGS in terms of enhancing mutual learning, not doing business together.
